The Atlanta Women’s Foundation is dedicated to breaking the generational cycle of poverty for women and girls and to strengthening our community. When I was asked to lead the Foundation, the most compel- ling aspect of this opportunity was the critical impor- tance of the role we play in this community. Some of the hallmarks of The Atlanta Women’s Foundation since it began as a Women’s Fund in 1986 are these: we have been led by bold women, we have taken a firm stand to support the issues affecting women and girls, and we have been an innovator by helping create and strengthen programs and organizations that change the lives of women and girls

Noted journalist, author, and screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker (UNBELIEVABLE: THE LIFE, DEATH, AND AFTERLIFE OF THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G., MTV's TUPAC), known for his intimate portrayals of the music industry and those who populate it, penned this animated urban morality tale of a Faustian pact made by a hot young gangsta rapper. Shane McDaniel (Mos Def) wants to be a star, and he'd do anything to succeed in the hip hop world. As his star begins to rise, a brush with death makes him realize that the values of gangsta rap might not be ones he wants to promote after all. But when he tries to clean up his act, cosmic forces intervene, reminding Shane that his material is no longer up to him since he did business with the devil; now he must fight to regain his power over his own artistic expression.
